Mailbox, or a post box, is a metal box in a public place where you can put outgoing mails, letters and packets to be collected. They are then sorted and delivered.
A mailbox may also refer to a letter box, also known as a letter plate, letter hole, deed or mail slot, which is a private receptacle for incoming mail.
