Yasawas, Fiji Islands

Wayalailai Island, Yasawas
4 Oct 2014 | From Michelle of Fiji
SURPRISE POSTCARD

Written in the postcard is the Fijian greeting 'Bula' which translates to 'Hello' (inf) in English. The postcard shows such a perfect day in the Yasawas.

The Yasawa Group is an archipelago of about 20 volcanic islands in the Western Division of Fiji. The Yasawas have beautiful land-and-seascapes – along with enough remoteness, less commercialised, and sense of isolation to appeal with backpackers independent travellers. The remote Yasawa Islands of Fiji is where you'll find village-based resorts, stunning white sandy beaches and crystal clear lagoons.

Michelle and I did a swap before. I was happy that she shared this beautiful postcard with me, and I dream that one day I will be able to visit this spectacular beauty :)

POSTCROSSING SWAP

Shown in the postcard is a woman awaiting the arrival of passengers from a charter vessel to enable her to sell her handicraft and souvenirs.

Fiji is an island country in Melanesia in the South Pacific Ocean. Its closest neighbours are Vanuatu to the west, New Caledonia to the southwest, New Zealand's Kermadec Islands to the southeast, Tonga to the east, the Samoas and France's Wallis and Futuna to the northeast, and Tuvalu to the north. Its capital and largest city is Suva.

The country comprises an archipelago of more than 332 islands. The two major islands, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, account for 87% of the population. Fiji is often referred to as the heart of the South Pacific. It is a perfect holiday famous for its soft coral diving, white sand beaches and pristine natural environment.
