Christmas Greetings from Tunisia

Mboni Chrismen
14 Mar 2014 | From Nicole of Tunisia
SURPRISE CARD

"Mboni Chrismen" is how they say "Merry Christmas" in Tunisia. I received her greetings a little late for Christmas, but of course I was very happy to receive it. The envelope was postmarked 23 Dec 2013 in Tunisia, then it was postmarked 29 Jan 2014 by our local post office, but it was only delivered to me 14 Mar 2014. Well, that's why they are called snail mail :p

I swapped with Nicole before through Facebook Postcrossing. She sent me my first postcards from Tunisia.

Tunisian Doors

Doors are one of the major elements composing the urban landscape in Tunisian cities’ medinas. Other than their main function, which is to separate the private space from the outdoors, traditional doors play an aesthetic part.

The traditional door is large and made of solid wood. It contains a smaller door. The latter allows a chicane entrance in order to preserve home privacy.

Tunisia is the northernmost country in Africa and, at almost 165,000 square kilometres (64,000 sq mi) in area, the smallest country in the Maghreb region of North Africa. It is bordered by Algeria to the west, Libya to the southeast and the Mediterranean Sea to the north and east. Its name is derived from its capital city, Tunis, located on the country's northeast coast.
