An Iraqi leader

This is actually a 3D postcard. I am not quite sure as to who is the person shown in the card. But I do think that he is one of Iraq's political leaders. The only Iraqi leader I am familiar with is Saddam Hussein - but that's definitely not him. He maybe is Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr, the fourth President of Iraq. But then again, I'm not so sure :p Maybe I should ask Talal about it.

My first postcard from Iraq

Al-ahwar, Southern of Iraq

This postcard took almost four months before reaching me. I was really surprised to have found it in my mailbox after this long time, but very much happy nonetheless :)

The Marshes (Al-Ahwar in Arabic) is a unique region to Iraq where nature seems to preserve its virgin aspect. It covers a large area surrounding Shatt El-Arab waterway and the union of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers just below Qurna, stretching from Kut in the north to Basra in the south. This vast expanse of marshland dotted with shallow lagoons occupies a total area of about 10,000 km2 and is the home of endless variety of birds, fish, plants, reeds, and bulrushes.
