The Diamond Head
31 Mar 2014 | From Precious Mia of Hawaii, USA
The postcard shows a view of Diamond Head - a dramatic sky silhouettes legendary Diamond Head, Waikiki's notable landmark. Diamond Head is the name of a volcanic tuff cone on the Hawaiian island of Oʻahu and known to Hawaiians as Lēʻahi, most likely from lae 'browridge, promontory' plus ʻahi 'tuna' because the shape of the ridgeline resembles the shape of a tuna's dorsal fin.
Precious Mia is a friend and former schoolmate. She now lives in Hawaii with her husband and family.
