Maiko are young geisha ranging in age from 15 to 20 or 21 years old. The literal meaning of maiko is "dancing child/girl"

Phoebe shared that you can actually see a lot of geishas and maikos walking in the streets of Kyoto wearing their kimono. But not all are geishas. Some are just tourists taking part of the "kimono experience" tour.
