Cherry Blossoms

Pink Sakura
25 Oct, 2013 | From Corrine of Taiwan
THANK-YOU CARD

Here's another thank-you postcard from Corrine. The postcard is self-phographed. Corrine took the photo at the Taian Train Station in Taiwan last February.

Sakura is Corrine's favourite flower. Cherry blossom is the flower of cherry trees, genus Prunus, particularly the Japanese Cherry, Prunus serrulata, which is sometimes called sakura. In Japan, cherry blossoms also symbolize clouds due to their nature of blooming en masse, besides being an enduring metaphor for the ephemeral nature of life, an aspect of Japanese cultural tradition that is often associated with Buddhistic influence.
