Wrocław, pronounced as Vrots-swaf, is the largest city and capital of Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland. Wroclaw is also one of the historic capitals of Silesia. Its perch upon the Odra (Oder) River, a river in Central Europe which starts in the Czech Republic and flows through Poland and Germany, and the veritable maze of islands and bridges that make up the city have gained it the title of the "Venice of Poland".
