The postcard shows a country woman carrying her child at her back. Hernan says that this is a common sight in the northernmost region of Chile: Arica y Parinacota. It is one of Chile's 15 first order administrative divisions. It borders Peru to the north, Bolivia to the east and Chile's Tarapacá Region to the south. It is also the country's newest region. People from the Altiplano (highlands) in the Andes, from Bolivia, Peru, Argentina, and Chile are in transit.
